THE BUTTER SMITH COOKING CLASS EXPERIENCE

The full-day and half-day cooking classes are exclusive, intensive and extensive hands-on cooking experiences.

NEW. I am now collaborating with Adelaide Central Market Tours to give a half-day hands on dessert cooking class on Saturdays.

Book now for the next dessert cooking class.

You won't be sitting around looking at me cook. We'll be cooking together, and if you choose the full-day class, you come back to our home in the evening and enjoy the fruits of your labour - or you may prefer to have the dinner at yours.

Whether it's a full-day class or half-day, you and your fellow cooks will be cooking, talking food, pantries and utensils; and of course talking wine and having the odd glass.

The classes are designed to help you on the road to being confident about cooking for dinner parties and cooking great meals for your family and friends. A MasterChef class it is not - no pressure. But I hope that it will lift your confidence, knowledge and skills to become a really good home cook... who knows where that might lead!

Don't take my word for it... read some reviews by class participants.

It's a learning experience

Because the classes are all about learning, the format of the classes is based on the principle that you'll learn more, and be more confident trying new dishes, the more...

  • - you get your hands dirty
  • - time you have to cook, listen and try things for yourself (that's why it's a whole day, not a few hours)
  • - the class is tailored to your cooking skills and interests.

Skip the details

Give me a ring or email me and we can discuss where your cooking skills and interests lie, the type of cooking class you're after and the logistics of the classes - eg date and your place or ours.

If we're both satisfied that it's a fit, we can work out the best option (see below) and a mutually convenient day.

Location & Logistics

When: Your class can be scheduled on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday - ie when the Adelaide Central Market is open. But we can discuss doing your class on a Sunday or Monday.

Location: Your class can be done in your home or in our home kitchen in Norwood, Adelaide. You can get a few friends or work colleagues together to do the class at your home or our home kitchen, or just come on your own and join a few other foodies and cooks for a great day or half-day in our home kitchen.

Itinerary full-day class and evening dinner party

The full-day classes starts with breakfast at the Adelaide Central Market at 8.30am where we'll meet and greet each other. Then I'll take you to my favourite stores and we'll buy the ingredients for our lunch and the dinner party.

Then, as agreed, we will either return to my home kitchen in Norwood, Adelaide or your home kitchen where the class will be conducted.

During the morning, while preparing pastries and sauces following the instructions in Dinner Party Book, we'll have a butter tasting and we'll talk about the must-haves in your recipes bookshelf, the pantry, fridge and utensils drawer.

We'll have a light lunch around 1.00pm, which we'll cook, and then finish the dinner party cooking about 4.30pm. You'll then have time to rest up before the dinner party.

The dinner party is at 7pm and it will be at either your home, or our home. This is where you bring your partner or a friend along to experience your day's cooking.

Itinerary half-day class

The half-day classes are flexible in time, location and the menu, so it is hard to be specific about the logistics. Give me a call and we can together work out what would work best.

Book a class

There are no set dates for classes. That wouldn't be exclusive or tailored!

Give me a ring or email me and we can discuss where your cooking skills and interests are at, the type of cooking class you're after and the logistics of the one-day and half-day classes. If we're both satisfied that it's a fit, we can work out a mutually convenient day.

We'll work together to set the style of food and the menu for the day. If it's just you, or you and your partner, I'll match you with another keen cook or cooks for the day.
